The majestic Mogollon Rim rises tall above the resort and stretches out over 200 miles across the rugged Arizona countryside. We are Phoenix and Tucson’s closest all cabin resort in the tall Ponderosa pines of Northern Arizona. Located 17 miles north of Payson, we are only about a one-hour drive from Fountain Hills in the northeast valley or about a 90 minute drive from the northwest valley through Camp Verde. Our convenient yet gorgeous location and roomy, comfortable cabins provide the ideal setting for your vacation, family reunion, weddings, anniversary, honeymoon, romantic getaway, corporate retreat, church group, youth group or just a fantastic weekend of mountain lodging and relaxation. Autumn ushers in the many brilliant colors of the northern red oaks, rocky mountain aspens, cottonwoods, poplars, willows and wild strawberries- a very popular time for weddings. In winter, you can enjoy our breathtaking snow covered white mountains, snow-shoeing, sledding with the kids, stunning canyon hikes or just relaxing around the fireplace.
Here at the Cabins On Strawberry Hill Resort, Tonto and Coconino National Forests are our backyard. The resort property borders Tonto National Forest , which joins Coconino approx. I mile up the mountain. One can literally walk off our property into several million acres of public lands. The national forests provide opportunities for hiking, swimming, fishing, quadding, horseback riding, hunting, cross-country skiing, exploring, photography and just plain old family fun. Additionally, we are the closest accommodations to Tonto Natural Bridge State Park, Fossil Springs Wilderness Area, Mazatzal Wilderness Area, Clear Creek Wilderness Area, Verde Hot Springs and Verde Valley State Park. The resort is centrally located between the many scenic hot-spots Arizona offers, such as Sedona, Jerome, Petrified Forest National Park, the Painted Desert, Prescott, Scottsdale, Flagstaff, Christopher Creek, the Navajo and Hopi nations and the Grand Canyon.
The surrounding area offers a wide range of site seeing options as well. For example, guests can visit the spectacular Tonto Natural Bridge and picnic to the sound of a waterfall. Swimming & fishing holes, including Fossil Creek and the Verde River, are a short driving distance from the resort, as well as 14 other Mogollon Rim country lakes. Milk Ranch Point, which offers incredible views from the top of the Mogollon Rim, is also just a quick trip. The Shoo-Fly Indian Ruins, dating back one thousand years to the Hohokam period in Arizona, are 25 minutes away. Three miles away, in the village of Pine, there are about 10 antique and craft stores offering an incredible variety of unique items and souvenirs to our vacation visitors. We are also close to two of the finest gaming and entertainment accommodations in Arizona, Mazatzal Casino in Payson and Cliff Castle Casino in Camp Verde.
We have an incredible variety of birds and other wildlife for viewing here at the resort. There are beautiful hummingbirds from early May through late September. Often in winter, you can see a variety of migratory birds such as eagles, hawks, ducks, and more. In the spring, you can hear the Turkeys calling. At Fossil Creek one can see quail, terns, thrushes, and several rare species of birds. Our guests have reported seeing Junco's, Wedding Chickadees, Acorn Woodpeckers, Broad-Tailed Hummingbirds, Costa's Hummingbirds, and Great Blue Herons. In addition to bird watching, people also enjoy watching the elk, deer, javelina, rabbits, and squirrels roam the forest.
